Taupe is a convergence of art for art’s sake and art as consumable product. A collaboration between designers Mark Keeler and Victor Alejándro Aguilar, the focus of Taupe is to offer limited-run art objects that reflect a singular creative vision and aesthetic value. Our visual and conceptual tendencies are informed by a broad array of influences including Dada, Art Nouveau, post-modern illustration and street art, Japanese minimalism, fashion photography, contemporary architecture, stark geometry, clean lines and surrealist imagery. Predictably, our list of inspiration stretches far beyond those offered above. Our desire as Taupe is to maintain an appropriate and original synthesis of these perspectives, blending source material and influences to produce something homogenous, substantial and compelling.
